Tackling Germany

Hello!
How fast time has gone while abroad. It is hard to believe that it is now the beginning of April. We have now been in Europe for a month. I am afraid to even blink as time has flown thus far. This past week was extremely busy as I had a paper for ethics to write, a Literature final, a Government midterm along with an Ethics exam. However, I am anxiously anticipating my first major trip to Berlin Germany!!

We left The Park at about 2 am to head to the Dublin Airport to catch our flight. The flight was very smooth and when we finally landed in Berlin we had actually lost an hour. That meant that we were now six hours ahead of our family and friends in America. After passing through customs we got on a train that was about an hour ride into the city. The first thing that I noticed while on the train was that cars were again driving on the same side of the road as I was used to. I then noticed the extensive amounts of graffiti that was on the sides of the buildings.

After quite the walk from the train stop we were finally at our cute little hotel. After a quick minute to freshen up we were then able to experience our first time on the intercity rail system. They use a unique honor system in a way where you validate your train ticket. After we all boarded the train we got off and explored that part of the city. After a while we grew quite hungry and luckily had dinner waiting for us. We got a great traditional German meal! The meal consisted of first a cucumber and dill salad, bread, red meat, carrots, and potatoes. For desert we had a delicious pudding. Of course there were several pitchers of German beer on the table for us to try! After dinner we headed back for our hotel as Dr. Hosey had us up bright and early for the next day of adventures!!
